How can I get info out of my acer aspire 1410?

So last week I think my net book acer aspire 1410 got some sort of virus, and it wont let me get to my desktop or the login screen. I cant say I'm a hundred percent sure that its a virus but every time I turn it on it says the acer logo and just as it looks like its about to go to the login screen this bar pops up that says windows is loading files. So once that bar fills up it goes to startup repair and something else starts loading. When that's done it says it cant repair and if I should sent or don't send. Ive tried both and neither worked. So then I click on advanced options, then I type in my username and password. Then it gives a list of six recovery tools, startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic, command prompt, and recovery management. Ive tried them all except for the last one because I still have info on the net book that I need, and I have no idea what to do in command prompt. This is my main problem, I just want to get some data from my Microsoft word and that's it. I cant get on the desktop so I cant save it on a usb, and I don't know if connecting the net book and my computer would work, I also wanted to remove the HD and try to move the data to my computer or a laptop, but if this is a virus would it spread? I don't really want to mess around to much either because I'm afraid of making it worse. Maybe there is something I'm not understanding but all I want is that data! Thanks for the help.
