I guess your Lexmark X5490 Printer is ok, and this should be a USB connection problem. On Windows Vista, click the System and Maintenance icon, and then click Device Manager. Click the plus sign (+) beside Universal Serial Bus Controller to see whether or not the USB Host Controller and USB Root Hub are listed. If you can’t find the USB Host Controller and USB Root Hub are listed, maybe you should update USB driver.
